Here are some secrets for success at dress rehearsals.
- Send all your children's costumes in a laundry basket and label it clearly with their name. This basket will be their closet for the duration of the play. It is their personal space. It will be carried back and forth to your house.
- label everything ---most of these costumes will be one of 20-30 of the same. Make sure theirs has a name on it.
- Don't worry about hair and makeup yet...we will send that information home soon.
So even though there was a slip on the blog for a day---we won't be needing it.--Sorry.
Last night I went to see a dress that was complete. Congrats on being so on top of things. It was done line by line with the directions on the pattern. It is darling, just as I pictured. And as in the directions in the pattern, there is a “slip” built into the dress. Which is fabulous….because it is cheaper (only cost about $7 for lining, zipper and net) and it will be so much easier to change for quick changes.
And I have decided to go with the dress as the original pattern. I love the youthful look of it.
So you will have enough of the original fabric to line the bodice, but you will need to purchase skirt lining (just a cheap cotton broadcloth, and some netting and a zipper----all of this can be found at Walmart---at least until 6 or 7 moms go buy it all :) Good thing there are several Walmarts in the area.
I also decided to go with no socks or tights at all. (girls could wear 'no socks' if they want)
Shorts update
Moms have had success. On Target online there are shorts for a great price. :)

Several of you have expressed a desire for early signups, so you can plan your days to come see the show.
I have put Nicole White in charge of the sign ups (thanks Nicole for saying yes). You can call her to sign up for dress rehearsals and performances. She will start sign ups after Wednesday September 28. Please call her at home. 435-723-5422
She still needs help. Please call and arrange your dates before getting your family tickets.

Well here is the update you have been promised.
Shoes:
Here is a pic of Canvas shoes for boys and girls for the Go, Go, Joe number. These also can be used by the boys for the entire show, except for the last scene where they will wear black dress shoes.
I think you should be able to find them at many stores and on the internet. If someone finds them for a good price, email me and I will post the information here. The most important thing is to have a soft sole.
Girls Shoes:
Here is a pic of the shoes I would like for the girls to wear with their dreamer dresses.

Kids sizes were 13.99 and adult sizes were 14.99
White shorts:
I have had several great questions on these shorts. How short??? Will the shirts be tucked in??? And I don't really have an answer. I am so sorry. I just know I want the kids to look really cute. I know there were several of them that the shirt size that was ordered was just super big on them. If that is your child, two options---take it in and shorten it. Or we can try to order a smaller size. As for the shorts, let try to do knee or a bit above. Perhaps someone has found a great place to get them. Let me know and I can pass the information on.
Sewing Cosumes:
Boys---you are lucky. You will only be sewing a vest. The fabric is coming from LA and should be here for next week (October 2?) We will send the material and a pattern home with your child. In the mean time, we have decided to wear black long sleeve button up shirts with their black pants and there "very" colorful vests. (this is for the finale). This shirt was not on the original list of things to find.
The boys white pants have been ordered and will be handed out as soon as they are here. (As I mentioned before, you may need to hem them for your child.)
Girls: Girls will have 2 dresses.
White "dreamer" fabric and patterns are being sent home tomorrow (September 26). I will also include a paper with instructions. Hopefully I will remember everything. :)

Great finds:
Wal-Mart had some white canvas slip-on shoes on clearance for $5.00. We added a pair of laces since they contained eyelets and they look just fine. You can't tell they are slips-ons. They had a bunch but only up to a size 1, which probably won't work for most of the kids. But since Amy, Kara and Ethan have small feet, it works for them.
Wal-Mart also had some white shoes that look almost exactly like the girls ones you posted. I noticed they had some left, but didn't notice sizes.
Girls black leggins at Wal-Mart are only $5.00. They had tons of sizes a week or so ago.
